About Me:
I grew up in Mifflin County and graduated from Lewistown Area High School. I am married and have a son and a daughter. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and my Masters of Education Degree in School Counseling from Shippensburg University. I worked in Juniata County as an elementary School Counselor for 7 years and I have been with Mifflin County for the past 3 years. I love my job and enjoy getting to know my students and their families at Lewistown Elementary and Strodes Mills Elementary Schools.
What does a School Counselor do?

Talks with students individually and in small groups

Gains understanding through observation and participation in the classroom

Meets with students to discuss important topics such as friendship, emotions, and even careers!

Works with teachers and families to help students achieve

Helps all students grow as happy, healthy, and successful individuals!

In counseling situations, confidentiality is maintained except:

In cases of suspected abuse or neglect

If a child poses a danger to self or others

If a child and/or parent/guardian gives permission to share information
Confidentiality is of the upmost importance. This means that anything you share with me is kept private. Information that I gather through meetings with students and parents/guardians will be shared only on a "need-to-know" basis. When information needs to be shared, I will assess who needs to know and what information he/she needs to know to best support students and their families.
